Is there a way to legally translate a movie / series?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I wanted to ask if there is a legal way to translate a series / movie from English to Hebrew.

That is = use the SRT file and I will translate it into Hebrew.

From what I have read on the internet, the subtitle file is actually a derivative of the content itself and therefore any change to it will be an infringement of copyright.

Don't know if it matters, but the content is always on YouTube, meaning the person who uploaded the content has already infringed copyright but "stealing an exempt thief" does not make it legal.

And back to the question:

Is there a legal way that allows me as an individual to translate into Hebrew a series / movie that was uploaded to YouTube or anywhere else on the net without being exposed to a lawsuit from any source?

Thanks

In practice as an Israeli you only have to worry if you are translating something that belongs by rights to another Israeli body.
And even then, you will only have to worry if you are part of a large translation group aimed at Zira.
Although I did not answer your question, but that's what matters most.

If so answer the question directly
So obviously there is also a legal way. You can get the consent of the creator / owner or pay as many as you ask.
In my opinion..
Not a lawyer *, I have not done this before *, do not listen to me *, yes I have translated things in the past and got out of it safely *

In my case, these are foreign channels ... (Turkey, etc.).

Plus I'm not part of a big group that translates and distributes it for free on the net through one site or another.

It's more for a small group of people, say 100 people .. but I'm still looking for a legal way to do it without getting involved.

As for the video itself - I do not see the filmmakers / series selling me the video at a monetary cost if at all ..

Regarding the SRT file in English - here too I doubt if anyone will be willing to release it for me in favor of its translation into Hebrew ..

In theory, it is clear that the creators / owners of the content will agree to sell you for money - their goal is to make money from creating the content, unless they have agreements with another Israeli company such as exclusivity with and so'.

As for the SRT file in English, you really do not have the ability to know its source (whether it is an official SRT or an amateur translation group has created) and the main thing is that you are the person who "tore"
The subtitles from the film and distributed on the net.

With all due respect to your desire to do things legally, as long as you do not plan to upload it to any site and make (say through advertisements) money on the translation - there is no chance in the world that you will get involved. (And if you get involved I do not know you and have never corresponded bye)
