I would be happy for specifications for a stationary computer for software development, 2K-5K NIS, computer only, without screen

Recommended Posts

I would be happy to recommend a stationary computer (not including a screen, Etc.) to be used for software development, will run mainly Visual Studio 2019,

Today I am working on a computer based i5 with 4 cores and 16 GB , It works fast enough, but I need to hand over the computer and purchase a new one.

I guess the new computer will be grounded , Probably i5, possible i7 if not significantly micro (but from what I see, it is significantly micro).

As for Ram, 16GB is enough in my opinion, Fast I guess.

In terms of hard disks: Main hard disk 256GB (or 512 if not significantly micro) and also a standard secondary hard disk, 7200rpm 2TB.

In terms of chassis, today I have a Thermaltake H22 Versa, but it really does not matter to me the shape or visibility, I guess any Mid Tower ATX will fit.

Power supply - what do you think is enough (500W?) - The computer will also have a 27 "screen, maybe two of these, Simple and integrated printer.

The computer will probably be connected to a UPS.

Motherboard I know less, what would you recommend, in my opinion there is no need for a separate graphics card, rather With GPU / built-in graphics card.

Should the motherboard / chassis support a parallel connection of 2 screens b .

Optical drive / DVD, not really useful or important but whatever.

Fans / Cooling - Something standard, I do not plan OC.

No need to include (But for the computer to support Win 11, so that it has a TPM), there is no need for Office, antivirus or any other software.

Thank you!

1. What is the maximum budget? Is there an exception if necessary?

There is no specific budget, if the computer costs 2K NIS then excellent and if you have to invest 5K NIS then also fine, better of course as little as possible.

2. What useful computer (games, graphic editing, office work, HD content, for example), is there a specific example of a game or software?

Software development in Visual Studio 2019.

3. Is there a need for peripherals in addition to the computer (for example: keyboard, mouse, speakers And screen)?

No.

4. Is there a basic component that does not need to be included in the specification? (Eg Drive SSD Which already exists and can be added to the assembly)

No.

5. How important is silent computer operation?

Not important.

6. Is there a limit or preference for the physical size and weight of the computer, lights, etc.?

No.

7. Is there a need to include an OS / Office (preferably a preferred version) and / or a computer in the store?

No need , No software required.

Assembly is required, if you do not order a ready-made computer but assembly, I need to get it assembled.

8. Is there a preference to purchase the computer from a specific store? If you can not specify a residential area.

No.

9. When is the purchase of the computer planned (it is highly recommended to request a short specification from the time of purchase)?

in the upcoming weeks.

10. Are there any special requests regarding ports and connections (eg USB Type-C or FireWire) or overclocking?

No, except for the need to work with two 27 "screens in the connection .

11. Is there any peripherals that will be connected? If so, which one? (Docking station if computers Mobile \ One screen or another)

No.

12. Additional notes, detailed and miscellaneous details:

See my comments at the top of the post.

Thank you!

Okay, so here's a specification for you.

With I 7 processor and 16 GB of memory.

You have a budget to put 32 GB as well.

Ahhh, for a second screen, you'll need such an adapter -

Thank you very much for the specification!

1. Why i7 processor? In view of the needs presented, is i7 needed? By how much is micro compared to i5 relevant?
2. Matter if Or Ryzen? And in general, how many cores are recommended? Is that enough or at least 4?
3. there is Which structurally supports connecting two screens b , Or do you always need an adapter?
4. In the board is there a TPM in favor of Win 11?
5. Of 550W is not too power unnecessarily?
6. Allow the direct link to the specification (this or updated), instead of just a screenshot?
7. Do not know if it is allowed to ask here (if not, then delete / ignore), the startpc site is reliable and recommended for purchase from it?

Thanks again!

1. Why i7 processor? In view of the needs presented, is i7 needed? By how much is micro compared to i5 relevant? It's still on budget, so why not?
2. Matter if Intel Or Ryzen? And in general, how many cores are recommended? Is that enough or at least 4? You got 8!
3. there is Motherboard Which structurally supports connecting two screens b HDMI, Or do you always need an adapter? Not that I know.
4. In the board is there a TPM in favor of Win 11? There is in the processor.
5. Power Supply Of 550W is not too power unnecessarily? It's a stamp in the middle.
6. Allow the direct link to the specification (this or updated), instead of just a screenshot? Sorry, site restrictions are here. Manually copy the address.
7. Do not know if it is allowed to ask here (if not, then delete / ignore), the startpc site is reliable and recommended for purchase from it? Like any store.

It is possible to change to a slightly more expensive motherboard, which will require an adapter for another, cheaper screen.

If you want changes - decide and say.

As for the processor, even if it's on a budget, it's still money that if it's not really needed, then it's a shame to throw it in the trash.

For me, the cheaper the better, as long as it meets the requirements.

Today I am developing on an i5 with 4 cores and 16GB , Without SSD and I have no complaints about the speed.

If I buy a new computer, then of course it is possible to move forward, the question is what is the difference in the price of the processor, can you say?

Regarding TPM, if you replace a processor, then you need to make sure that it has a TPM in it or on the motherboard, in order for it to work with Win 2.

If there is not Which supports 2 connections For two screens, do not think there is an advantage to replacing it with an expensive board just to lower the cost of the adapter, no?

Thank you.

Today I'm a developer

It's today, and what will be tomorrow?

What if you progress / change programming language / platform?

Will you come to the forum again to ask for a specification?

I have no problem giving you a cheap system with a minimum of redundancy, which for every pips you will run to the store / website.

It's not that I'm on a budget.

It is about halfway between the two ends.

Whatever you think.

Regarding TPM

Every new processor will have no child, you will not go back.

From experience, few Meti replace only an actual processor.

If there is not Motherboard Which supports 2 connections HDMI

But, screens have more types of inputs, like DP for example .....

I've been working with i5 for a number of years and there's no problem, even though I understand Visual Studio's development environments Requires more resources than the rest.

If anyone thinks i7 is needed then I would love to understand why and maybe I will be convinced, but I need to understand first : )

By the way, what is the difference between i7 and i5? _Maybe the specific subtype is also important)

And in general, better About Raison or not necessarily?

Do your screen only have HDMI ports? Usually screens come with more than one port.

Regarding motherboards with more than one port - I have certainly seen such a board, I just do not remember if it was with two ports Or with two DP ports, but it was relatively old. Of the new ones I do not remember one like this.

I will note that I have seen one and only one like this.

I was looking for some motherboards with two ports .

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B360N-WIFI-rev-10#kf

Need to go over the specs there and I do not currently have time to do so, but on the face of it there seem to be two ports on this board .

It does not support 11th generation processors.

So, if this is so critical to you, try searching
