HardOCP obtained preliminary details about the new nForceFX chipset, including a drawing of a board specification based on that chipset. So far nVidia has denied any such project, but apparently in light of the jarring news on the Geforce FX card they have decided to balance the situation and leak preliminary information about the new board. The board shown in the drawing is for two Athlon MP processors with a 333Mhz bass, but of course it makes sense that there would also be a version for a single processor. Among the features we can find in the new board will of course be Dual DDR, USB 2.0, SATA, Firewire and AGPX8 slot. Among the more interesting and innovative features are the SATA-RAID Wireless Lan as well as built-in chipset preparation for PCI-X.
The new board will probably consume quite a bit of power, since the Molex socket is built in addition to the ATX socket, similar to the new Intel boards.
It will be interesting to see the performance of the new board, and it is interesting to see that the new board is also adapted for Athlon MP processors. Does nVidia start to look beyond the home market to the server market?
