Is it worth switching to wireless? HyperX Cloud Flight S headphones on review

By Lior Matityahu

We spent time with headphones Wireless gaming - to find out if the benefits of new age technology outweigh the disadvantages

Music is an integral part of many of us, especially in a routine where we spend a lot of time in front of the computer. Personally, I spend when Music Plays in my ears for many hours every day in front of the computer. There are days when I notice that I have been listening to music for 8 hours or more during the same day. My Spotify account will attest to a listening that is considered for a full 40 days in 2020 saying that the headphones I use will probably have serious significance.

When I work on content for site surfers, the music always resonates in my ears and greatly affects my breadth and pace of work. Most often a process of product exams like video cards or Processors Accompanied by listening to entire albums, simply because in my situation it helps a lot to concentrate and get the job done.

For many years I have always persisted in using standard wired headphones. These are usually "gaming" headphones, and those who are connected to the world of audio and entertainment are familiar with the products that are usually used as gaming products, and that there are many mistakes on the subject. HyperX's brand Kingston Is a brand that is associated with, among other things headphones Gaming and one that has gained a very positive reputation among its products as quality and fair for the asking price for them.

As part of the work process of examining hardware and equipment of one kind or another, leaving my computer stand in favor of using the exam stand, as well as retrieving and storing such and other hardware products from the repository means I am "tied to the stand" if I want to continue listening to music. In this situation I convinced myself that it might be worthwhile to try an approach of headphones Absolutely absolute to see if I can "tolerate" their audio quality for the convenience of switching between different positions and free movement in the house.

Until now I was used to using mainly headphones that are considered to be quite high quality for music and gaming such as the Senheiser GSP-500 I really like them, And headphones such as theArctis Pro with the GameDAC Which to this day manage to surprise me with the excellent listening experience and comfort. Now is the time to say goodbye for at least a while and say goodbye to a product that will disconnect me from the cables and allow me to move around the apartment freely.

These headphones are officially compatible with the PC and PlayStation 4 console. It is very possible that they will work with Consoles The new generation, but this should be checked against HyperX individually. The Cloud Flight S are headphones Which have flown slightly under the radar since they were launched, but are a combination of some interesting technologies.

The headphones come in a package, a removable microphone and transmitter USB, As well as paperwork and a link to a user guide.

The HyperX Cloud Flight S are headphones An ordinary arch with a fairly free movement. They seal the environment, but do not have active noise cancellation technology.

The left earpiece contains the power button, a simulated 7.1 channel mode button, a charging socket and a microphone socket. The right earpiece contains a volume control wheel. The wheel itself has a relatively high resistance and is not restricted to movement (is not based on a thread that restricts movement). When the power reaches the maximum in the operating system a signal is heard that symbolizes this.

An unconventional feature is that these headphones can also be charged wirelessly to the left earphone. No such luggage is provided, but they are available en masse to the public.

The headphone cover is made of the same leather-like hardware we have known for a long time. It seals external noises quite well, but among its shortcomings are usually the capture of heat emitted from the ear.

Adjustment of the length of each ear is done separately, using a step system. The system itself is quite rigid and there is no change of dimension when moving.

Experience of use and comfort of wearing

I will start with the factor that I think remains most important when it comes to the recommendation of headphones, Even more than the audio quality - wearing comfort.

I would consider my head size except above average together for each adult. The correct set of steps that suited me is an addition of 2 on each side above the minimum, which leaves a lot of room. I consider headphones Fabric for the most comfort to me, even though the sealing is significantly lower. I was afraid that with the cover of sweat-like pillows would be a significant problem for me with the amount of hours I spend in front of the computer.

I am happy to say that thanks to the extra soft pads, I survive for long hours with the headphones without having to remove them to refresh the ears. Their intensity of pressure on the head is felt, but not too high. I would have been happy with a slightly calmer intensity of pressure, but there is no real problem here.

The freedom that the use of wireless headphones creates helps me far beyond what I am willing to admit. I'm so used to having a cable connecting me to a computer that I'm still trying to look for it whenever I want to get up. Adapting to wireless headphones in office use is something that takes time. In a short time I find myself just not removing them from my head. Walking around and general chores at home have become a habit over time and this is a sign that in terms of comfort the Flight S does the job.

Battery length thatHyperX Declaring is up to 30 hours. In practice, I find it relatively close to the time between charges. When I use high volume, I get about 15 hours of use, which is pretty fair. Of course I continue to use them even when they are charging.

When it comes to the quality of construction - it is excellent in my opinion. The headphones do not creak at all, and feel that their metallic spine maintains the rigid structure. I would be happy if the top pillow was wrapped in fabric and not the same leather-like material. Also, in my opinion it should be slightly larger, it is relatively flat and there is not much resistance.

In a traditional way, HyperX Believes in disconnecting and connecting a microphone in one removable place and I am totally in favor of this approach. When there is no need for calls, there is no need for a microphone and if it does not interfere at all - what is wrong.

The quality of the microphone is quite good considering that it is a set radio. There is a respectable filtering of background noises. This is not the highest quality microphone I have ever heard in a gaming headset, but it is definitely useful for any purpose other than recording for the purpose of creating content for an audience.

Audio quality tests

I write the review about two weeks after receiving the headphones, so my initial impression of the audio quality has passed and I have given myself some time to adjust to the color of the sound coming out of these headphones. When it comes to audio quality it is important to remember that such wireless headphones work significantly differently from wired headphones. This is due to the fact that wired headphones receive the sound processing and amplification from a sound card, whether it is a sound card that is part of the motherboard, or for example an external sound card that connects toUSB And transmits an analog signal to headphones (digital to analog converter).

In HyperX Cloud Flight S all sound processing is done inside the headphones themselves. There is actually a sound card in the headset that receives the information through the 2.4GHz transmitter we connected onUSB And performs this conversion within the headphones. Connecting the transmitter to a computer has automatically turned it into an audio device, no software needs to be installed.

Maximum power - The maximum volume of the Cloud Flight S is quite high, but slightly lower than the volume I am used to in wired headphones. Most of the time I do not listen to music or play at maximum volume but mainly in the 75% area. Admittedly, sometimes I come across a situation where media comes at a very low volume and then maximum power can bring that media to a level of logic that makes sense to me. Still, expect from wireless headphones to a power not as high as that of the wires.

Mode 7.1 channels - There is a button in the headset that switches the audio mode to 7.1 channel. Personally, I just can not recommend this mode, neither in games nor in listening to music. The sound becomes metallic and all the low frequencies disappear at once. So, all my listening for the last few weeks I have been doing in normal stereo mode.

Normal listening mode, audio quality - Switching from fairly high-quality headphones to the set radio I was afraid I would lose the audio quality I was used to. In the world of audio there is a kind of curse that says that when a regular user for a certain audio experience, the time to adapt to another passes somewhere between "impossible" and "barely accepts" since those who are used to high audio quality will choose to continue spending the same quality. Audio people choose to continue to look for quality improvements over the years and not go in the opposite direction.

Switching from headphones as exemplified in the first paragraphs of the review to the Cloud Flight S took an adjustment period. Yes, this is a low quality of audio compared to. There is a low of the audible frequency spectrum, when both the low and the high are significantly reduced. This results in slightly less colorful and less rich audio quality.

The Cloud Flight S will not provide the audio quality you are familiar with from other products HyperX Cloud II example for example. Although, it is important to understand that this is a different product with technological limitations and a budget of about NIS 700 as well as budgetary limitations. Comparing this set to wired sets costing NIS 700 such as the GSP-500 or the Arctis Pro is not a particularly fair comparison.

There are some important points to note about the sound quality of the Cloud Flight S - for the first time, no matter how loud and how heavy the bass is, there are no strange noises coming from these headphones. You can not cause them to "break" by playing Music Challenging, when the sound always comes out relatively clean and uninterrupted.

Second, I will note that despite a relatively calm sound and dynamic range reminiscent of significantly cheaper headphones, Music Manages to hold herself in one piece with these headphones. Whether it’s snare and high-frequency beats or repeated bass kicks, you can hear their presence in music and just like a salad, inventing these components is the really important ingredient. In addition, it is important to remember that because the sound processing is done in the headphones themselves, no matter what device you connect them to, you will get the same sound color.

If I had to rate the volume in relation to the wired headphones I'm used to, I think I would give the Cloud Flight S a pretty average score. Given that this is a set radio, I have not encountered once in all my tens of hours of listening a situation where I want to pull back one of my wired sets and connect them to a computer or external sound card I have. I think the reason for this is that I understood at least some in my case headphones Wireless in a work environment where I move between positions is a critical thing.

It is important for me to clarify, if the audio quality was not sufficient, I would probably give up using them and go back to wired headphones even if it means I will have to remove them with every movement in the environment. The audio quality of the Cloud Flight S is satisfactory, at least in normal stereo mode. I reserve the right to connect a more advanced set such as HD58X or Arctis Pro in case I want to spend intimate time between myself and the music only.

Recommended - headphones Wireless HyperX Cloud Flight S

These headphones are on our list of recommended ones. Like other HyperX products so far, these headphones are also quite comfortable to wear with proper noise-proofing. The build quality is excellent and the location of the buttons and their quality are very good. While the audio experience is not the big emphasis used headphones Wireless, it provides and even in ears that are accustomed to good audio quality on a daily basis manages to penetrate the fire rings. The quality of the microphone is also satisfactory and suitable for gaming.

For a price of about NIS 699, theHyperX Cloud Flight S is suitable for anyone who wants to disconnect from cables and get the freedom to listen even at high distances and while moving (even from a distance of 6 meters from the transmitter we did not encounter any problem at all) thanks to the use of 2.4GHz technology.
