The old Japanese company decides to spoil us with a good dose of sweet nostalgia with a new venture that gets the name Sega Forever
But the need to tweak the system and get the original executable files has made them mostly reserved for advanced users, while everyone else was not aware of the potential to play classic games from the past on their smartphones.
Now, Sega is announcing a venture that will provide everyone with access to its great games from the XNUMXs, as well as from the early XNUMXs - for free. It's called Sega Forever, and it's available in app stores Android וOn iOS right now.
Right now, you can download and play on your smart device in five high-quality nostalgic titles: the one and only Sonic The Hedgehog, the cool action game Comix Zone, the role-playing game Phantasy Star 2, the Kid Chameleon platform game and the two-dimensional scrolling action game Altered Beast, which join The original Crazy Taxi officially launched in a similar format last month - with all of these titles available with game controller support, online scorecards that allow you to compare your abilities to others, save cloud They will follow you to every device and more.
Initial reviews for the various games report quite a few technical issues in the new venture, most notably Phantasy Star 2 and Altered Beast titles, but Sega states that they will continue to work to improve the user experience and make sure it is properly tuned and working on as many devices as possible. At the same time we hear that the goal is to launch a new title under the venture every two weeks to a month - in order to reach as large a collection as possible of classics from the Master System, Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast days that have been modernized for the new era. Hopefully these initial problems will go away as soon as possible.
The only downside to this whole move is actually the economic engine behind it - all of these new games are available for free download as mentioned, but in versions supported by commercials, removing them for those interested will require a fee of $ 2 (about $ 7.5) per title. One does not like too much the advertisements that accompany his game at every step and stage, but it is a necessary addition for a game that does not cost money in advance and does not offer all kinds of real money purchases while playing.
