Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, the beloved racing title from 2010 will have a new coat of paint and will be the addition to EA's famous brand for 2020 - instead of a completely new creation
If you have not spent the last few years in a remote forest or under a rock, you have probably noticed that the gaming world is full of nostalgic names that have been revived thanks to remodeled versions - and although we do not oppose this idea in principle, the various players in the market seem to be drifting.
EA Games has done a commendable job with its remastered remastered versions for Command & Conquer and Red Alert, And also with the modern version for Burnout Paradise that arrived in 2018 - but now it is also announcing a remake of the race title Need for Speed Hot Pursuit from 2010 (which itself was a kind of boot for the original Hot Pursuit from 1998) and raises quite a few questions about the way forward.
While Burnout Paradise Remastered has been received as a small favor for fans of the series that has been on hold for more than a decade (unfortunately), the Need for Speed series is in active and continuous development that employs several studios and provides us with new titles every year or two - so the launch of Remastered Perceived as a choice of the easy and cheap solution, as a substitute for actual experience Bring the brand back to the King's Road. The choice of Hot Pursuit, instead of older and more popular works such as Most Wanted or Underground, also seems to indicate a desire for minimal investment - in a game that can have a reasonable modern look thanks to support for higher resolutions, without the need for major technological revolutions beyond that.
Even the somewhat bizarre announcement trailer, with very few gameplay scenes and too many plots with flesh-and-blood actors that drew a slew of stinging reactions from viewers, does not add to us too much confidence in this fresh remastered edition
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered will be launched on November 6 for Origin platforms And Steam On PCs, for the consolesXbox One And the PlayStation 4 and also for the Nintendo Switch, with all the DLC additions from the original game already included inside (77 car models in total) and adding about six hours of gaming with dozens of new challenges - as well as support for resolutions of up to 4k With a display speed of up to 60 frames per second (inPC Only - the consoles will have to compromise on less depending on the processing power available in each of them), upgrades to the quality of the effects and resolutions used and improvements to the smoothing and shading techniques.
Hot Pursuit Remastered will cost 30 euros in EA's own Origin store, about 125 shekels as of today, and 129 shekels quite reasonable in Steam Which may indicate that the company is starting to implement a much fairer treatment for Israeli users of the platform.
